I would like to introduce you to ProjectEDUCATE. A non-profit, non-governmental organization that helps improve educational standards and infrastructure in the Southern African state of Zambia. Zambia is one of the poorest countries in the world. With annual houshold incomes averaging $360, the average Zambian family survives on less than a dollar a day. This means everyday families have to make the decision whether to buy food for medicine for a sick family member. Whether to send a child to school or provide shelter. These are difficult decisions that none of us should ever have to make.
As an organization, ProjectEDUCATE puts the emphasis on education because it is empowering; it gives people the knowledge, skill and attitude to become active and productive members of their communities. Education is thus an indispensable component to development.
ProjectEDUCATE provides educational resources like books computers to schools. In addition they also provide teachers training courses and small business support to small scale entrepreneurs.
