Our work focuses on providing individuals and communities with the tools they need to become active and productive members of their communities. A result our programs are designed to address issues in the context in which they exist. We make a deliberate effort to involve the community at all levels of a project cycle. From design to implementation, through evaluation. This ensures our programs are relevant to community needs. It also ensures project success through community involvement.
Supporting Students
Our programs are designed to help support students in their educational pursuits. Besides providing students with material and technical support, our programs also encourage students to take an active role in their communities. Through OperationREACH-OUT students are involved in volunteering activities. The resulting end is students who take an active role in community development and have a heightened sense of duty and responsibility. This is critical to raising responsible children and to building a strong nation.
As a way of promoting a better understanding of the world, OperationREACH-OUT also connects students and schools in Zambia to other students in other countries around the world. In so doing opening them up to other cultures and fostering understanding, appreciation and acceptance of others.
Empowering Educators
Teachers play a vital role in educations. Unfortunately Zambian teachers do not always receive adequate training limiting their scope. Just as often they do not have adequate access to teaching resources making it even more difficult for them be effective educators. OperationEMPOWER is designed to address these two key areas by providing training and access to resources. It helps improve teachers skills through a series of workshops and seminars known as Teaching of Mastery Certificate designed by Teachers Without Borders. Through this initiative we also provide free basic computer and Internet skills training to teachers, helping to ensure they have the skill to provide such instruction. The resulting end is a rounded approach that address the key issues by not only providing materials resources but the necessary as well.
Engaging Communities
Community development is very much tied to a community's ability to identify and make effective use of resources be they local or international to help address everyday needs. Our programs are designed to provide communities with the tools they need to help build developmental capacity. These include training in a number of key areas, including on how to start and run small scale businesses and basic computer training.
